‘I’m left with GH¢3,850 more to go’ – Sarkodie reacts to Bishop Owusu’s GH¢25K target for 25-year-olds

Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie has reacted in a sarcastic manner to a recent comment by the senior pastor of Pottersville Church International, Bishop Samuel Owusu, who claimed that 25-year-olds should have at least GH¢25,000 in their bank accounts.

In an interview on Onua TV on May 1, 2025, Bishop Owusu emphatically said: “If you are a young man, think about your future because you will grow old one day…At the age of 25, you should have at least GH¢25,000 in your bank account.”

Reacting to this statement in a post by Onua FM’s X account, Sarkodie stated that he is about GH¢3,850 away from reaching the bishop’s requirement.

He admitted with a bit of irony that, given his old age, he might be a little behind schedule, but it’s “better late than never.”

“GH¢3,850 more then, I’m good to go. It’s a bit late but better than nothing, I guess,” he posted.

Since then, the bishop’s remark has generated a mixed reaction on social media.

Others criticized the GH¢25,000 savings target as unachievable, particularly in light of the current financial difficulties that many Ghanaian youth experience, while others praised the idea of instilling financial responsibility at an early age.
