The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has confirmed the demise of 8 persons as a result of the crash of Z9 helicopter on Wednesday, August 6 2025.
In a statement issued to confirm the tragedy, GAF said the investigations have commenced to determine the cause of the accident.
“The Ghana Armed Forces extends its condolences to the bereaved families,” a portion of the statement read.
According to GAF “the helicopter Z9 that took off this morning at 0912hrs from Accra enroute to Obuasi has crashed in the general area of Sikaman near Adansi Akrofuom in the Ashanti Region and all are confirmed dead.”
The soldiers who lost their lives were, Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Manaen Twum Ampadu and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah.
The passengers were Dr Edward Omane Boamah Minister for Defence, Alhaji Dr Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed – Minister for Environment, Science and Technology, Alhaji Muniru Mohammed – Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator, Dr Samuel Sarpong – Vice Chairman, NDC and Mr. Samuel Aboagye – Former Parliamentary candidate.
